Part of the process of installing a switch to add a siding off of the mainline, requires bending rail. In a previous post, I mentioned how Richard developed an entirely new way to bend our 40 pound rail. Here you can see a short clip of the bender in action.
What we are doing here is more than a simple bend. To accomodate the switch point, the rail needs a sharp bend. That sharp bend is why the rail bender is being opened and closed multiple times at the same spot.
